The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Kevin Sorenson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Candice Bergen, Rosane Doré Lefebvre, Randall Garrison, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Ryan Leef, Rick Norlock, LaVar Payne, John Rafferty, Jean Rousseau, Francis Scarpaleggia and Kevin Sorenson.

 

Acting Members present: Bob Dechert for Russ Hiebert.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Christine Lafrance, Legislative Clerk. Library of Parliament: Tanya Dupuis, Analyst; Christine Morris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Border Services Agency: Daniel Champagne, Director General, Infrastructure and Environmental Operations; Kristine Stolarik, Director General, Pre-Border Programs Directorate; Anita Henderson, Counsel, Legal Services; Sharon McKeen, Manager, Travellers Unit, Advance Information and Programs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 5, 2012, the Committee commenced its study of subject matter of clauses 264 to 268 (Customs Act, 2001) of Bill C-45, A Second Act to Implement Certain Provisions of the Budget Tabled in Parliament on March 29, 2012 and Other Measures.
 

Daniel Champagne made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:40 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee recommend to the Standing Committee on Finance that it move quickly to adopt clauses 264 to 268 of Bill C-45, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 29, 2012 and other measures, without amendment.

 

At 4:51 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
