The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Denis Blanchette, Kelly Block, Alexandre Boulerice, Peter Braid, Ron Cannan, Jacques Gourde, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Mathieu Ravignat for Irene Mathyssen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Public Works and Government Services: Shereen Benzvy Miller, Director General, Acquisitions Branch - Office of Small and Medium Enterprises; Pablo Sobrino, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Acquisitions Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(i) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, the Committee commenced its study of effectiveness of the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program.
 

Pablo Sobrino and Shereen Benzvy Miller made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:04 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates conduct a study into the newly created Shared Services Canada; that the Committee invite the Minister of Public Works and Government Services, the newly appointed head of Shared Services Canada, senior departmental officials, and independent experts to provide evidence; that the Committee request a copy of the PriceWaterhouseCoopers study on government data centres from the government at the commencement of the hearings; and that the Committee report its findings back to the House.

 

At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
