The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in camera at 9:49 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Denis Blanchette, Kelly Block, Peter Braid, Hon. Ron Cannan, Jacques Gourde, Jean-François Larose, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Costas Menegakis, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Mathieu Ravignat for Linda Duncan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tina Lise LeGresley, Analyst; Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Seventh Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

1. That the Committee, for its meeting of Tuesday, October 2, 2012, invite officials from the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Public Works and Government Services to appear for a briefing session on the current energy efficiency policy for government buildings, structures and public works;

2. That the Committee, for its meeting of Thursday, October 4, 2012, invite officials from PPP Canada to appear for a briefing session on the current policy on private-public partnerships in the delivery of government services;

3. That the Committee undertake a study on the policy on private-public partnerships in the delivery of government services, and that as such, it set aside its meetings of October 16, 18 and 23, 2012, for hearings on the subject, and that it set aside the meeting of October 25, 2012, for the possible consideration of a draft report related to this study;

4. That the Committee set aside its meetings of October 30 and November 1, 2012, to consider the government’s response to the seventh report of the Committee, “Strengthening Parliamentary Scrutiny of Estimates and Supply”;

5. That the Committee, for its meeting of Tuesday, November 6, 2012, invite the relevant officials from Shared Services Canada to appear for a briefing on the organization’s first year of existence;

6. That the Committee, for its meeting of Thursday, November 8, 2012, invite the relevant officials from the Department of Public Works and Government Services to appear for a meeting on the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy;

7. That the Committee set aside its meetings of November 20, 22, 27 and 29, 2012, for the study of the prospective Supplementary Estimates (B) 2012-13, while also giving consideration to the performance reports of relevant departments and agencies, given that the ministers responsible for these departments or agencies are invited to appear at that time; and

8. That the Committee undertake a study on the energy efficiency policy for government buildings, structures and public works, and that as such, it set aside its meetings of December 4, 6 and 11, 2012, for hearings on the subject, and that it set aside the meeting of December 13, 2012, for the possible consideration of a draft report related to this study.
