The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Cheryl Gallant, Dan Harris, Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, Lee Richardson, Kennedy Stewart and David Sweet.

Acting Members present: Corneliu Chisu for John Carmichael, Ryan Cleary for Brian Masse and Wayne Marston for Brian Masse.

Associate Members present: Ted Hsu.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst ; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2012-2013: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under ATLANTIC CANADA OPPORTUNITIES AGENCY, Votes 1 and 5 under ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF CANADA FOR THE REGIONS OF QUEBEC, Votes 1, 5, 10, L15, L20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100 and 105 under INDUSTRY and Votes 1 and 5 under WESTERN ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

The Chair called Vote 1 under ATLANTIC CANADA OPPORTUNITIES AGENCY and Vote 50 under INDUSTRY.

Minister Goodyear made a statement and, with Bruce Archibald, answered questions.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:52 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Minister Valcourt made a statement and, with Paul J. LeBlanc, answered questions.

At 10:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
