The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Guy Caron, Cheryl Gallant, Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, Lee Richardson, David Sweet, Glenn Thibeault and Philip Toone.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Richard Dicerni, Deputy Minister; Simon Kennedy, Senior Associate Deputy Minister; Michael Jenkin, Director General, Office of Consumer Affairs; Kelly Gillis, Chief Financial Officer, Comptrollership and Administration Sector.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2011-2012: Votes 5b and 10b under ATLANTIC CANADA OPPORTUNITIES AGENCY, Votes 1b and 5b under ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF CANADA FOR THE REGIONS OF QUEBEC, Votes 1b, 5b, 10b, 25b, 35b, 40b, 50b, 55b, 60b, 65b, 70b, 75b, 80b, 90b, 95b, 100b and 105b under INDUSTRY, Votes 1b and 5b under WESTERN ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 3, 2011.

By unanimous consent, the Chair called Votes 5b and 10b under ATLANTIC CANADA OPPORTUNITIES AGENCY, Votes 1b and 5b under ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF CANADA FOR THE REGIONS OF QUEBEC, Votes 1b, 5b, 10b, 25b, 35b, 40b, 50b, 55b, 60b, 65b, 70b, 75b, 80b, 90b, 95b, 100b and 105b under INDUSTRY, Votes 1b and 5b under WESTERN ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION.

It was agreed, — That the opening remarks presented by Richard Dicerni from the Department of Industry be taken as read and published in today’s Evidence.

Richard Dicerni, Michael Jenkin and Kelly Gillis answered questions.

At 4:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
