The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Brad Butt, Chris Charlton, Ryan Cleary, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Ed Komarnicki, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes and Phil McColeman.

 

Acting Members present: Charmaine Borg for François Lapointe and Gerald Keddy for Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Mark McCombs, Senior General Counsel and Head, Legal Services; Charles Nixon, Chief Information Officer; Ron Parker, Associate Deputy Minister; Ian Shugart, Deputy Minister; Allen Sutherland, Assistant Deputy Minister, Learning Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, the Committee commenced its study of the protection of personal information held by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
 

Ian Shugart made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:18 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
