The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Brad Butt, Chris Charlton, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Ed Komarnicki, François Lapointe, Kellie Leitch, Phil McColeman and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: John Carmichael for Colin Mayes and Guy Caron for Ryan Cleary.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: André Léonard, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - Construction Council of Ontario: John Grimshaw, Executive Secretary Treasurer. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - Local 353: Steve Martin, Business Manager. Comité d'adaptation de la main-d'oeuvre pour personnes immigrantes (CAMO-PI): Lambert Opula, Development Officer. Central Ontario Building Trades: Peter Reed, Business Representative, Field Representative, Hammer Heads; James St. John, Business Manager, Director, Hammer Heads Program.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 27, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of economic opportunities for young apprentices.
 

Lambert Opula made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:56 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

John Grimshaw and James St. John made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
