The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room C-120, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Chisholm, Patricia Davidson, Fin Donnelly, Bryan Hayes, Randy Kamp, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Robert Sopuck, Philip Toone, Jonathan Tremblay and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Patrick Brown for Robert Sopuck, Hon. Rob Moore for Mike Allen and Brad Trost for Ryan Leef.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen E. Courtney, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources: Anne Neary, Director, Applied Research and Development Branch; Ala Boyd, Manager, Biodiversity Branch, Biodiversity Policy Section; Tim Johnson, Research Scientist, Applied Research and Development Branch, Aquatic Research; Francine MacDonald, Senior Invasive Species Biologist, Biodiversity Branch, Biodiversity Policy Section.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on invasive species that pose a threat to the Great Lakes system.
 

Anne Neary made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:10 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Patricia Davidson, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $33,100.00 for the Committee’s study on invasive species that pose a threat to the Great Lakes system be adopted.

 

At 5:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
