The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 10:25 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Peter Goldring, Nina Grewal, Sadia Groguhé, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Jinny Jogindera Sims and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Ève Péclet for Jean-François Larose and Manon Perreault for Hélène Laverdière.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Ales Michalevic. Rights & Democracy: Michel Lalonde, Director, Communications and Governmental Affairs; Jean-François Gagnon, Communications Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee met with Ales Michalevic, recipient of the John Humphrey Award.
 

Ales Michalevic and Michel Lalonde made statements and answered questions.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee resumed consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2011-12: Votes 1b, 5b, 10b, 15b, 17b, 30b and 45b under FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
 

By unanimous consent, Votes 1b, 5b, 10b, 15b, 17b, 30b and 45b under FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE carried.
