The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Patricia Davidson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Andrews, Charlie Angus, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Brad Butt, Blaine Calkins, John Carmichael, Patricia Davidson, Dean Del Mastro, Earl Dreeshen and Pierre-Luc Dusseault.

 

Acting Members present: Harold Albrecht for Colin Mayes, Alexandre Boulerice for Jean Crowder, Kevin Lamoureux for Scott Andrews and Mike Wallace for Colin Mayes.

 

Associate Members present: Brian Jean and Peter Julian.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: University of Ottawa: Michel W. Drapeau, Professor, Faculty of Law. As an individual: Joshua Juneau. Quebecor Media Inc.: Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and Chief Executive Officer; J. Serge Sasseville, Vice-President, Corporate and Institutional Affairs. Sun Media Corporation : Luc Lavoie, Head of Development, Sun News and Parliamentary Bureau.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 20, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the access to information dispute and the resulting court actions concerning CBC.
 

Michel W. Drapeau made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 9:39 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:44 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Pierre Karl Péladeau made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:40 a.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 10:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
