The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 11:32 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Jean Crowder, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Andrews, Charlie Angus, Brad Butt, Jean Crowder, Patricia Davidson, Dean Del Mastro, Earl Dreeshen, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Colin Mayes and Dany Morin.

 

Acting Members present: John Weston for John Carmichael and Rodney Weston for Blaine Calkins.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Quebec Lobbyists Commissioner: François Casgrain, Lobbyists Commissioner. Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia: Elizabeth Denham, Registrar of Lobbyists for British Columbia; Jay Fedorak. Office of the Integrity Commissioner of Ontario: Lynn Morrison, Integrity Commissioner. Office of the Ethics Commissioner of Alberta: Bradley Odsen, General Counsel, Lobbyists Act Registar; Neil Wilkinson, Ethics Commissioner, Lobbyists Act Registrar.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, September 28, 2011, section 14.1 (1) of the Lobbying Act, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Lobbying Act.
 

Neil Wilkinson, Lynn Morrison, François Casgrain and Elizabeth Denham made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
