The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, François Pilon, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Chungsen Leung for Brian Storseth and Costas Menegakis for Lawrence Toet.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Nuclear Association: Heather Kleb, Acting President. Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: Bob Bleaney, Vice-President, External Relations; Alex Ferguson, Vice-President, Policy and Environment; David Pryce, Vice-President, Operations. As individuals: Sarah Otto, Director, Biodiversity Research Centre, Department of Zoology, University of British Columbia; Jeannette Whitton, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, University of British Columbia.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 14, 2013, the Committee resumed its study on habitat conservation in Canada.
 

Sarah Otto and Jeannette Whitton, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Heather Kleb and Bob Bleaney made statements and, with David Pryce and Alex Ferguson, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, answered questions.

 

At 10:32 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
