The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:54 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Allen for Stella Ambler, Dan Harris for François Pilon, Jinny Jogindera Sims for François Choquette and Rathika Sitsabaiesan for François Choquette.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: City of Surrey: Carrie Baron, Manager, Drainage and Environment, Engineering Department. As an individual: Kenneth Bennett, Former Environmental Manager, Environmental Planning and Protection, City of Surrey. Parks Canada: Andrew Campbell, Vice-President, External Relations and Visitor Experience. David Suzuki Foundation: Faisal Moola, Director General, Ontario and the North; Kiruthiha Kulendiren, Ontario Science Programs Manager, Ontario and the North. Friends of the Rouge Watershed: Jim Robb, General Manager.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, October 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of urban conservation practices in Canada.
 

Jim Robb, Faisal Moola, Andrew Campbell, Carrie Baron, by videoconference from Burnaby, British Columbia, and Kenneth Bennett made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
