The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, François Pilon, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Kellie Leitch for Michelle Rempel and Pierre Poilievre for Stella Ambler.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Analysts be tasked with preparing a draft version of the Committee’s Report to the House of Commons (“the draft report”) regarding the National Conservation Plan (NCP) with sections of the report specifically focusing on the following, as per the original scope of the current study:

1) What should be the purpose of a NCP?

2) What should be the goals of a NCP?

3) What guiding principles should govern a NCP?

4) What conservation priorities should be included in a NCP?

5) What should be the implementation priorities of a NCP?

6) What consultation process should the Minister consider using when developing a NCP?

That, upon completing the draft report, the Analysts present the draft to the Committee for consideration;

That testimony included in scheduled upcoming meetings and the upcoming travel of the Committee be included in the report;

That written briefs submitted to the Committee after Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 5:00 PM not be included in the Analysts’ draft report;

That the Clerk make the draft report available to Members of the Committee by 4:30 PM on Monday, June 4, 2012.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
