The Standing Committee on International Trade met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Hon. Wayne Easter, Ed Holder, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Jasbir Sandhu, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Kelly Block for Gerald Keddy, Brad Butt for Devinder Shory, Royal Galipeau for Russ Hiebert, Marie-Claude Morin for Annick Papillon and François Pilon for Annick Papillon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Peter McGovern, Assistant Deputy Minister, Asia and Chief Trade Commissioner; Marvin Hildebrand, Director General, Trade Negotiations Bureau; Nadia Bourély, Director, Trade Policy and Negotiations Division II; Alain Gendron, Director, Northeast Asia Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of a comprehensive and high-level economic partnership agreement (EPA) with Japan.
 

The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee continue its study of a comprehensive economic and partnership agreement (CEPA) with India for all meetings from November 20 to December 13, 2012 (inclusive) and that the Chair be authorized to modify this schedule, if necessary, at his discretion.

 

At 4:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
