The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met in a televised session at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the President, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Rob Anders, Sean Casey, Joe Daniel, Réjean Genest, Greg Kerr, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Irene Mathyssen, Annick Papillon, Peter Stoffer and Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst. House of Commons: Marc-Olivier Girard, Procedural Clerk.

 

Appearing: Hon. Steven Blaney, P.C., M.P., Minister of Veterans Affairs.

 

Witnesses: Department of Veterans Affairs: Suzanne Tining, Deputy Minister; Keith Hillier, Assistant Deputy Minister, Service Delivery.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2011-2012: Votes 1b and 5b under VETERANS AFFAIRS, referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
 

The Chair called Vote 1b under VETERANS AFFAIRS.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with Suzanne Tining, answered questions.

 

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:50 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Suzanne Tining and Keith Hillier answered questions.

 

Vote 1b under VETERANS AFFAIRS carried.

 

The Chair called Vote 5b under VETERANS AFFAIRS.

 

Vote 5b under VETERANS AFFAIRS carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1b and 5b under VETERANS AFFAIRS to the House.

 

Eve Adams moved, — That the Committee proceed to matters related to Committee business in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 5.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2011, in order to allow members to attend a special ceremony in the Senate Chamber marking the successful completion of the Canadian Forces Mission in support of the people of Libya.

 

At 10:27 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
