The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:10 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, James Bezan, Andrew Kania, Larry Miller, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Joe Preston and Merv Tweed.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Maxime Bernier, Cathy McLeod, Lee Richardson and David Sweet.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on National Defence: Jean-François Lafleur, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on International Trade: Paul Cardegna, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on the Status of Women: Marie-France Renaud, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on National Defence be granted a travel budget of $62,921 to travel to Fort Worth, Texas, for a site visit to the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in relation to its study on the next generation of fighter aircraft, in November 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on National Defence be granted a travel budget of $86,685 to travel to St. John’s and Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador and Greenwood and Halifax, Nova Scotia for in relation to its study on Search and Rescue Response times, in the Fall-Winter of 2010-2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $98,127 to travel to London, United Kingdom; Strasbourg, France and Rome, Italy in relation to its study on free trade between Canada and the European Union, in November, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $90,821 to travel to London, United Kingdom; Strasbourg, France and Budapest, Hungary in relation to its study on free trade between Canada and the European Union, in November, 2010.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the request for reimbursement presented by David Sweet regarding a witness who submitted his expense claim to the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology after the 60-day deadline be concurred in.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be granted a travel budget of $117,407 to travel to Vancouver and Williams Lake, British Columbia; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and Edmonton, Alberta in relation to its study of violence against Aboriginal women, in the Fall-Winter of 2010-2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be granted a travel budget of $110,157 to travel to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; Winnipeg, Manitoba and Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay, Ontario in relation to its study of violence against Aboriginal women, in the Fall-Winter of 2010-2011.

 

At 1:26 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
