The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:03 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, James Bezan, Larry Miller, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Joe Preston and Paul Szabo.

 

Other Members present: Leon Benoit, Claude DeBellefeuille, Candice Hoeppner, James Rajotte and Alan Tonks.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services; Sophie Descary, Logistics Officer. Standing Committee on Finance: Jean-François Pagé, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities: Georges Etoka, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food: Isabelle Duford, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Natural Resources: Carol Chafe, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee commenced its study on budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Finance be granted an operational budget of $44,800 for its study on retirement income security of Canadians.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Natural Resources be granted a travel budget of $3,204 to travel to Chalk River, Ontario in relation to its study of medical isotopes, in the Spring of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities be granted a travel budget of $13,752 to travel to Lac Simon Reserve and Kitcisakik Reserve, in the province of Quebec, in relation to its study of federal contribution to reducing poverty in Canada, in the Spring of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $86,969 to travel to Quebec City, Quebec; Kentville, Nova Scotia; Sussex, New Brunswick and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in relation to its study on young farmers and the future of farming, in the Spring of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $50,062 to travel to London, Strathroy, Guelph, Wiarton and Meaford, Ontario, in relation to its study on young farmers and the future of farming, in the Spring of 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $132,361 to travel to Kelowna, British Columbia; Brooks and Crossfield, Alberta; Lanigan, Saskatchewan and Warren, Winnipeg and Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, in relation to its study on young farmers and the future of farming, in the Spring of 2010.

 

At 1:17 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
