The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Hon. Scott Brison, Robert Carrier, Bernard Généreux, Russ Hiebert, Ted Menzies, Thomas J. Mulcair, Massimo Pacetti, Daniel Paillé, James Rajotte, Paul Szabo and Mike Wallace.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst; Brett Stuckey, Analyst. House of Commons: David-Andrés Novoa, Committee Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Bank of Canada: Mark Carney, Governor; Tiff Macklem, Senior Deputy Governor.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Massimo Pacetti, it was agreed, — That the Committee invite Kevin Page, Parliamentary Budget Officer, and private sector economists to appear before the committee on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, for 2 hours to discuss the government's most recent economic update / fiscal projections and any other item related to the government's fiscal framework or their own revenue and expenditure projections.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study on the Report of the Bank of Canada on Monetary Policy.
 

Mark Carney made a statement and, with Tiff Macklem, answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
