The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Patricia Davidson, Hon. Wayne Easter, Judy Foote, Carole Freeman, Pierre Poilievre, Greg Rickford, Bill Siksay, Paul Szabo and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: André Bellavance for Carole Freeman, Paul Calandra for Rick Casson, Paul Dewar for Bill Siksay, Roger Gaudet for Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac and Claude Gravelle for Bill Siksay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alysia Davies, Analyst; Dara Lithwick, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)h)(vi) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 1, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on allegations of interference in access to information requests.
 

Diane Finley made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

On motion of Wayne Easter, it was agreed, — That Sébastien Togneri be summoned to appear before the Committee on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. on the matter relating to its study of “Allegation of Interference in Access to Information Requests”.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and the result of the vote was announced: YEAS:5;NAYS:5.

Whereupon, the Chair voted in the affirmative.

Accordingly, the motion was agreed to..

 

It was agreed, — That Ryan Sparrow be invited to appear before the Committee on Tuesday, May 11 or Thursday, May 13, 2010 on the matter relating to its study of “Allegations of interference in Access to Information requests”.

 

At 12:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
