The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Alex Atamanenko, André Bellavance, France Bonsant, Hon. Mark Eyking, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, Larry Miller, Blake Richards, Bev Shipley, Brian Storseth and Francis Valeriote.

 

Acting Members present: Mark Holland for Hon. Wayne Easter and Alan Tonks for Francis Valeriote.

 

Associate Members present: Malcolm Allen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Brian Evans, Chief Veterinary Officer and Chief Food Safety Officer; Cameron Prince, Vice-President, Operations; Martine Dubuc, Vice-President, Science; Paul Mayers, Associate Vice-President, Programs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of the Import of products, recent internal audit report.
 

Brian Evans made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:24 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:27 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt a budget in the amount of $12,200 for its study of the Railway Costing Review.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt a budget in the amount of $36,500 for its study of the Biotechnology Industry.

 

At 10:43 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
