The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Kirsty Duncan, Greg Kerr, Ben Lobb, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Hon. Judy Sgro, Peter Stoffer, Brian Storseth and Robert Vincent.

 

Acting Members present: Kevin Lamoureux for Lise Zarac.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the following witnesses: Patrick Stogran, Col (retired); Dr. Marvin Westwood, Professor and Associate Member, Faculty of Medicine, UBC; David Khul; Col Rebecca Porter, Director, Behavioral Health Office, Office of the US Surgeon General; Tim Wall, Executive Director, Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention; Alain Beaudet, President, Canadian Institutes of Health Research; Dr. Elspeth Ritchie, Chief Clinical Officer, District of Columbia, Department of Mental Health; Guy Parent, Chief Warrant Officer (Retired), Office of the Veterans Ombudsman; Paul Links, St. Michaels Hospital and John D. Larlee, Chair, Veterans Review and Appeal Board be invited to appear in relation to its study of combat stress and its consequences on the mental health of Veterans and their family.

 

It was agreed, — That should Bill C-55, An Act to amend the Canadian Forces Members and Veterans Re-establishment and Compensation Act and the Pension Act (Enhanced New Veterans Charter Act) be referred to the Committee, consideration of the Bill take precedence over any other business before the Committee.

 

At 4:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
