The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:07 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Leon Benoit, Joe Preston, Paul Szabo and Merv C. Tweed.

 

Acting Members present: Lois Brown for David Sweet and Derek Lee for Hon. Shawn Murphy.

 

Other Members present: Don Davies, Claude DeBellefeuille, Andrew Kania and Lee Richardson.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services. Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security: Roger Préfontaine, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Joint Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations: Maxime Ricard, Joint Committee Clerk. Standing Committee on International Trade: Jean-Marie David, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Senior Director (acting).

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security be granted a travel budget of $95,091 to travel to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Kingston, Ontario; Montreal, Québec and Dorchester, New Brunswick, for site visits in relation to its study on correctional services, mental health and addictions, in June 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations be granted a travel budget of $62,033.32 to travel to Canberra, Australia, to attend the Australia-New Zealand Scrutiny of Legislation Conference in July 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee International Trade be granted a travel budget of $98,735 to travel to São Paulo and Brasilia, Brazil, in relation to its study of Canada-South America trade relations, in June 2009.

 

At 1:29 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
