The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Shawn Murphy, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: David Christopherson, Bonnie Crombie, Meili Faille, Daryl Kramp, Derek Lee, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pascal-Pierre Paillé, Andrew Saxton, Bev Shipley, John Weston and Terence Young.

Other Members present: Irene Mathyssen.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andrew Kitching, Analyst ; Alex Smith, Analyst.

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Richard Domingue, Principal. Treasury Board Secretariat: Michelle d'Auray, Secretary of the Treasury Board of Canada; Catrina Tapley, Executive Director and Gender-Based Analysis Champion, International Affairs, Security and Justice Sector. Privy Council Office: Neil Bouwer, Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Social Development Policy. Department of Finance: Louise Levonian, Assistant Deputy Minister. Status of Women Canada: Nanci-Jean Waugh, Director General, Communications and Strategic Planning Directorate; Hélène Dwyer-Renaud, Director, Gender-Based Analysis Support Services.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, the Committee commenced consideration of Chapter 1, "Gender-Based Analysis" of the Spring 2009 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

Sheila Fraser and Michelle d'Auray made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
