The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 213, Wellington Building, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Paul Calandra, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Derek Lee, Jean-Yves Roy and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Crête for Diane Bourgeois, Paul Dewar for Pat Martin and Judy Foote for Hon. Dan McTeague.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Hughes Létourneau, Intern.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner: Christiane Ouimet, Commissioner, Public Sector Integrity; Joe Friday, General Counsel; Henry Molot, Deputy Commissioner.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2009-2010: Vote 50 under TREASURY BOARD, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
 

Christiane Ouimet made a statement and, with Joe Friday and Henry Molot, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

The Subcommittee met this morning, Tuesday, May 12, 2009, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee study the Supplementary Estimates (A) 2009-2010 at the same time as the Main Estimates 2009-2010, both on Tuesday May 26, 2009, and Thursday May 28, 2009.

2. That the Committee study a draft report on federal government's procurement processes on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.

3. That the Committee have another meeting on the economic stimulus package, after the appearance of Hon. Vic Toews, President of the Treasury Board, before the Committee on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, and that that meeting occur on Thursday, June 4, 2009.

4. That the Committee invite the Public Service Commission to appear on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

5. That a member of the Official Opposition be added to the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure.

 

On motion of Chris Warkentin, it was agreed, — That the Second Report be adopted.

 

At 12:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
