The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met by videoconference at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, the Chair, Ed Fast, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Ed Fast, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Marc Lemay, Réal Ménard, Rob Moore, Brian Murphy, Rick Norlock, Daniel Petit, Brent Rathgeber and Brian Storseth.

 

Acting Members present: Megan Leslie for Joe Comartin.

 

Associate Members present: Libby Davies.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Robin MacKay, Analyst; Tanya Dupuis, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Health: Cathy Sabiston, Director General, Controlled Substances and Tobacco Directorate; Jane Hazel, Director General, Marketing and Consultation Directorate, Public Affairs, Consultation and Communications Branch; Colleen Ryan, Director, Office of Demand Reduction. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, March 27, 2009, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-15, An Act to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
