The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 6:06 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Bob Dechert, Daryl Kramp, Jean-Yves Laforest, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Ted Menzies, Thomas J. Mulcair, Massimo Pacetti, Daniel Paillé, James Rajotte and Mike Wallace.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, December 8, 2009, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-62, An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act.

Chief Angus Toulouse, Grand Chief Randy Phillips, Chief Keith Williams, Shirley-Ann George and Jean-Michel Laurin made statements and answered questions.

Annie Carrier, Brian Ernewein, Louise Levonian, Pierre Mercille and Lise Potvin answered questions.

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of Clause 1 was postponed.

The Chair called Clause 2.

After debate, Mike Wallace moved, — That Clauses 2 to 44 inclusive carry.

Debate arose theron.

At 8:47 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:08 p.m., the sitting resumed in Room 112-N, Centre Block.

After further debate, the Chair interrupted the proceedings pursuant to the Special Order adopted by the House on December 7, 2009.
