The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, Paul Calandra, Olivia Chow, Rick Dykstra, Nina Grewal, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Alexandra Mendes, Thierry St-Cyr, Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac, David Tilson, Alice Wong and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Louis Plamondon for Thierry St-Cyr.

 

Associate Members present: Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Elgersma, Analyst; Daphne Keevil Harrold, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Elizabeth Long, Barrister and Solicitor, Partner, Long Mangalji, LLP. Parkdale Community Legal Services: Jennifer Pollock, Law Student, Caseworker, Immigration and Refugee Law Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of immigration application process wait times.
 

Rick Dykstra gave notice of the following motion:

That the Member for Scarborough-Agincourt be reported to the House for disorder in relation to his unparliamentary outburst of Thursday October 29th.

 

Jennifer Pollock and Elizabeth Long made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:00 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:03 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:39 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:40 a.m., the sitting resumed.
