The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in camera at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, Paul Calandra, Olivia Chow, Rick Dykstra, Nina Grewal, Alexandra Mendes, Pascal-Pierre Paillé, Devinder Shory, Thierry St-Cyr, David Tilson and Alice Wong.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Marlene Jennings for Hon. Jim Karygiannis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Elgersma, Analyst; Daniel Thompson, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, the Committee resumed its review of the subject-matter of Bill C-37, An Act to amend the Citizenship Act, enacted in the Second Session of the 39th Parliament.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

At 9:24 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:25 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt the draft report as the Committee's report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That 150 copies of the report be printed in accordance with the policy established by the Board of Internal Economy in a tumble bilingual format.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair ask the House for authority to table the report during the summer adjournment, at the first order”.

 

At 10:06 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
