The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, France Bonsant, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Rodger Cuzner, Jacques Gourde, Mike Lake, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin, Michael Savage, Hon. Judy Sgro and Lynne Yelich.

Acting Members present: Mario Silva for Ruby Dhalla.

In attendance: House of Commons: Carmen DePape, Procedural Clerk . Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development.

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Social Development: Janice Charette, Deputy Minister; Hélène Gosselin, Deputy Head, Service Canada; Sherry Harrison, Comptroller; Karen Kinsley, President, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008: Votes 1a, 5a and 15a under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, October 30, 2007.

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

It was agreed on division, — That Votes 1a, 5a and 15a under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT be adopted.

At 5:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
