The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Christiane Gagnon, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Patrick Brown, Patricia Davidson, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Luc Malo, Hon. Robert Thibault and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Gord Brown for David Tilson, Rick Norlock for Joy Smith and Mike Wallace for Joy Smith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Analyst; Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst. House of Commons: Isabelle Dumas, Procedural Clerk.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, the Committee resumed its study on Post-Market Surveillance of Pharmaceutical Products, Prescription and Non-Prescription.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Post-Market Surveillance of Pharmaceuticals”.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House of Commons if there is sufficient time to do so prior to the summer adjournment period, or in the event that the House has already adjourned, that the Committee seek permission to deposit the report with the Clerk of the House at any time during June and July 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report the supplementary opinions from Judy Wasylycia-Leis, MP for the New Democratic Party, and the one from the Bloc Québécois, provided that they are no more than 4 pages in length and submitted to the Clerk of the Committee no later than Wednesday, June 18, 2008.

 

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
