The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in a video recorded session at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Garry Breitkreuz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Sue Barnes, Garry Breitkreuz, Gord Brown, Hon. Raymond Chan, Joe Comartin, Laurie Hawn, Dave MacKenzie, Serge Ménard and Rick Norlock.

 

Acting Members present: France Bonsant for Maria Mourani, Hon. Dan McTeague for Hon. Roy Cullen and Hon. Joseph Volpe for Hon. Irwin Cotler.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst; Philip Rosen, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Commission for Public Complaints Against the Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Paul E. Kennedy, Chair; Brooke McNabb, Vice-Chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the Review of the Witness Protection Program.
 

Paul E. Kennedy made a statement and, with Brooke McNabb, answered questions.

 

At 12:06 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:10 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed a study on Counterfeit Goods.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That 100 copies, in billingual format, shall be printed.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 12:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
