The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:02 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Art Hanger, Guy Lauzon, Rob Merrifield, Hon. Judy Sgro, Paul Szabo and Tom Wappel.

 

Other Members present: Rob Anders, Gerald Keddy, Luc Malo, Brian Pallister, Gerry Ritz and Kevin Sorenson.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Chantal Proulx, Liaison Committee and Finance Officer; Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services; Anik Paquette, Senior Financial Advisor. Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food: Jean-François Lafleur, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Finance: Elizabeth B. Kingston, Clerk of the Committee; Shaila Anwar, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans: James M. Latimer. Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development: Angela Crandall, Clerk of the Committee.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on Budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Finance be granted an operational budget of $42,350 for its Prebudget Consultations.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Finance be granted a travel budget of : a) $221,311 to travel to Whitehorse, Vancouver, Fort McMurray, Saskatoon, and Portage la Prairie, and b) $142,765 to travel to St. John’s, Halifax, Quebec City, and Toronto, in October and November 2006, to conduct Prebudget Consultations.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $2,506 to travel to Ville Ste. Catherine, Québec on June 20, 2006, for its study on biofuel strategy.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a travel budget of $109,748 to travel to St. Anthony, Gander, Cap-aux-meules and Yarmouth from September 10 to 15, 2006 for its studies on the Canadian seal hunt and Grey seals.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a travel budget of $174,098 to travel to Strasbourg, Brussels, Rome and London from September 30 to October 7, 2006, for its studies on the Canadian seal hunt and Grey seals.

 

At 2:03 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
