The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Gary Goodyear, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gary Goodyear, Michel Guimond, Tom Lukiwski, Hon. Stephen Owen, Pauline Picard, Joe Preston, Marcel Proulx, Scott Reid and Hon. Lucienne Robillard.

 

Acting Members present: Libby Davies for Yvon Godin and Louis Plamondon for Michel Guimond.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Chief Electoral Officer: Marc Mayrand, Chief Electoral Officer. Office of the Commissioner of Elections: Johanne Gauthier, General Counsel. Elections Canada: William H. Corbett, Commissioner of Canada Elections; Diane R. Davidson, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and Chief Legal Counsel; Rennie Molnar, Senior Director, Operations, Register and Geography; Janice Vézina, Senior Director, Political Financing, Audit and Corporate Services.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2007-2008: Vote 15 (Chief Electoral Officer) under PRIVY COUNCIL referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 27, 2007.
 

The Chair called Vote 15 (Chief Electoral Officer) under PRIVY COUNCIL.

 

Marc Mayrand made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

Vote 15 (Chief Electoral Officer) under PRIVY COUNCIL, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 15 (Chief Electoral Officer), less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, to the House.

 

At 12:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:19 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(vi), the Committee resumed consideration of matters relating to the election of Members to the House of Commons.
 

William H. Corbett made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:48 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
