The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Brian Fitzpatrick, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Christopherson, Brian Fitzpatrick, Jean-Yves Laforest, Mike Lake, Pierre Poilievre, Pablo Rodriguez, Jean-Yves Roy, Hon. Judy Sgro, David Sweet, John Williams and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Anthony Rota for Hon. Shawn Murphy.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alex Smith, Analyst; Lydia Scratch, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Louis Alberti, Legal Services, Department of Justice; Ian Cowan, Inspector. As an individual: Keith Estabrooks. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Paul Gauvin, Deputy Commissioner, Corporate Management and Comptrollership. As an individual: Michel Joyal. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Pierre Lavoie, Superintendent (Retired); Paul Mc Connell, Inspector; Christian Picard, Superintendent, former Officer in charge of the Access to information and Privacy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 9, Pension and Insurance Administration - Royal Canadian Mounted Police of the November 2006 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
 

The witnesses were all sworn in.

 

Christian Picard, Paul Gauvin and Michel Joyal made opening statements and answered questions.

 

Keith Estabrooks, Louis Alberti, Ian Cowan, Pierre Lavoie and Paul Mc Connell answered questions.

 

Pierre Poilievre gave notice of a motion.

 

It was agreed, — That the Fifteenth Report of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts be studied on Wednesday, June 13, 2007.

 

At 5:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
