The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Christopherson, Brian Fitzpatrick, Jean-Yves Laforest, Mike Lake, Marcel Lussier, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pierre Poilievre, Pablo Rodriguez, Hon. Judy Sgro, David Sweet, John Williams and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Andrew Telegdi for Pablo Rodriguez.

 

Associate Members present: Joy Smith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Alex Smith, Analyst. House of Commons: Gregory Tardi, Senior Parliamentary Counsel (Legal).

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Rosalie Burton, former Director general of Human Resources, Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Mike Frizzell, Staff Sergeant, Strategic and Operational Support, National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre; Barbara George, Deputy Commissioner; Fraser Macaulay, Chief Superintendent. As an individual: Paul Roy, Ottawa Police Service (Retired).

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 9, Pension and Insurance Administration - Royal Canadian Mounted Police of the November 2006 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
 

It was agreed, — That the document tabled by Mr. Poilievre be distributed to all members of the Committee in its original language, and that it be translated as soon as possible.

 

Barbara George made an opening statement and answered questions.

 

Rosalie Burton made an opening statement and answered questions.

 

Paul Roy made an opening statement and answered questions.

 

Mike Frizzell and Fraser Macaulay answered questions.

 

On motion of David Christopherson, it was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Public Accounts hold another meeting with the same witnesses who appeared on April 18, 2007, and that Ms. Revine be invited back to this meeting also.

 

On motion of Borys Wrzesnewskyj, it was agreed, — That retired RCMP Sergeant Keith Estabrooks appear before the Public accounts Committee and that he should bring along all relevant documents and files which indicate the suppression of access to information requested by Mr. Gauvin, and that retired Sergeant Keith Estabrooks bring along with him the files with the following ATIP number involving pension fund investigation:

and, that these documents be translated prior to his appearance before the Committee.
