The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: André Arthur, Colin Carrie, Susan Kadis, Brian Masse, Hon. Dan McTeague, James Rajotte, Bev Shipley, Dave Van Kesteren and Robert Vincent.

 

Acting Members present: Marcel Lussier for Paul Crête and Paul Zed for Hon. Belinda Stronach.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst; Lalita Acharya, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Auto 21 Inc.: Peter R. Frise, Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director, AUTO21 Networks of Centres of Excellence. Energy Innovation Network: Michael Raymont, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Steel Producers Association: Stephen Sampson, Director, Canadian Steel Partnership Council; Ron Watkins, President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Challenges Facing the Canadian Manufacturing Sector.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:24 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

André Arthur moved, — That the Committee meeting be extented until 6:00 p.m. if there is unanimous consent.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived.

 

It was agreed, — That Peter Frise and Michael Raymont be invited to appear before the Committee again, the Committee's travel schedule permitting.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
