The Standing Committee on Finance met in camera at 10:34 a.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Brian Pallister, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Dean Del Mastro, Rick Dykstra, Hon. John McKay, Massimo Pacetti, Brian Pallister, Pierre A. Paquette, Thierry St-Cyr, Hon. Robert Thibault, Mike Wallace and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Szabo for Hon. John McCallum.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal; Alexandre Laurin, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which reads as follows:

1. That with respect to Bill C-37, An Act to amend the law governing financial institutions and to provide for related and consequential matters, the hearing dates be as follows:

February 15, 19, 20, 21, 2007, with a report to the House no later than the 22nd of February, 2007.

2. That the Committee prepare a Report to the House, requesting an extension for consideration of Bill C-253, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (deductibility of RESP contributions), and Bill C-305, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (exemption from taxation of 50% of United States social security payments to Canadian residents).

3. That a meeting respecting the motion concerning the Oil Sands be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007.

4. That an informal meeting be scheduled with members and staff of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources respecting the Oil Sands study and that the working group report to the Main Committee next Tuesday, February 27, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That the First Report be concurred in.

 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
