The Subcommittee on Solicitation Laws of the Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness met at 6:17 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, John Maloney, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Paule Brunelle, Libby Davies, Art Hanger and John Maloney.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Laura Barnett, Analyst; Lyne Casavant, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an Individual: Paul D.K. Fraser, Lawyer and Chair of the Special Committee on Pornography and Prostitution, Department of Justice, from 1983 to 1985.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness on November 24, 2004, the Subcommittee resumed its study of Solicitation Laws.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 8:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 8:01 p.m., the Subcommittee resumed sitting in camera.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the update of the list of witnesses adopted by the Subcommittee in December 2004 be adopted with the addition of the following people and organizations: Ross McInnis, Ellen Woodsworth, the Native Women's Association of Canada and Amnesty International.

 

At 8:07 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
