The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 269 West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Michael Chong, Paul Crête, John Duncan, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Ed Broadbent for Brian Masse, Mario Laframboise for Serge Cardin and Lloyd St. Amand for Hon. Denis Coderre.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Tourism Commission: Hon. Charles Lapointe, Chairman, Board of Directors and President and Chief Executive Officer, Greater Montréal Convention and Tourism Bureau; Michele McKenzie, President and Chief Executive Officer; Karin Zabel, Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages: Dyane Adam, Commissioner of Official Languages; Michel Robichaud, Director General, Investigations Branch; Johane Tremblay, General Counsel, Director, Legal Services.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2005-2006: Vote 40, under Industry, referred to the Committee on Friday, February 25, 2005.
 

The Chair called Vote 40 under Industry.

 

The Hon. Charles Lapointe and Michèle McKenzie made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:02 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Dyane Adam made a statement and, with Johane Tremblay, answered questions.
