The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bernard Patry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, Stockwell Day, Helena Guergis, Francine Lalonde, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Alexa McDonough, Hon. Dan McTeague, Pierre A. Paquette, Bernard Patry and Beth Phinney.

 

Acting Members present: Michael Chong for Stockwell Day and Peter Goldring for Ted Menzies.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Lee, Analyst; Gerald Schmitz, Principal; Sebastian Spano, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an Individual: George W. Alexandrowicz, Professor, Faculty of Law, Queens University.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on June 20, 2005, the Committee resumed its review of issues related to the subject matter of Bill C-357, Taiwan Relations Act.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:52, the sitting was suspended.

 

At 12:03, the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Committee adjourn and Members of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure continue to sit as the Subcommittee to discuss future business.

 

At 12:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
