The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met jointly with the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, Kevin Sorenson, Vice- Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and Paul Steckle, Chair of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stockwell Day, Alexa McDonough, Dan McTeague, Beth Phinney and Kevin Sorenson.

 

Acting Members present: Dean Allison for Ted Menzies, Bill Casey for Belinda Stronach, Mario Laframboise for Francine Lalonde and Keith Martin for Bernard Patry.

 
Members of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food present : Paul Steckle, Claude Drouin, Wayne Easter, David Kilgour, Rose-Marie Ur, David Anderson, James Bezan, Gerry Ritz.

Acting Members of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food present : Serge Cardin for Denise Poirier-Rivard.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food: Bibiane Ouellette, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Marcus Pistor, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: United Nations World Food Programme: James T. Morris, Executive Director; Dianne Spearman, Director, Office of the Deputy, Executive Director, Policy and External Affairs Department.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 15, 2004, the Committee commenced its study of World Food Supply.
 

James T. Morris made a statement and, with Dianne Spearman, answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
