The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gérard Binet, Paul Crête, Hon. Joe Fontana, Cheryl Gallant, Hon. Gurbax Malhi, Grant McNally, James Rajotte, Andy Savoy, Brent St. Denis and Hon. Lyle Vanclief.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Shawn Murphy for Hon. Herb Dhaliwal and Massimo Pacetti for Marlene Jennings.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya, Analyst; Dan Shaw, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2003-2004: Votes 1b, 5b, 20b, 30b, 40b, 45b, 50b, 55b, 60b, 65b, 75b, 80b, 85b, 90b, 95b, 100b, 110b, 125b, 130b and 135b, under INDUSTRY referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 19, 2004.
 

The Chair called Vote 1b under INDUSTRY.

 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, Votes 1b, 5b, 20b, 30b, 40b, 45b, 50b, 55b, 60b, 65b, 75b, 80b, 85b, 90b, 95b, 100b, 110b, 125b, 130b and 135b, under INDUSTRY carried on division.

 

On motion of Joe Fontana, it was agreed, — That the documents received in relation to Bill C-9 (former Bill C-56), An Act to amend the Patent Act and the Food and Drugs Act, during the second session of the 37th Parliament be deemed adduced by the Committee in the current session.

 

At 4:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
