The Standing Committee on Health met in a televised session at 12:02 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gilbert Barrette, Bonnie Brown, Hon. David Kilgour, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield and Hon. Susan Whelan.

 

Acting Members present: Bev Desjarlais for Svend Robinson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Pierre Pettigrew, Minister of Health.

 

Witnesses: Department of Health: Ian C. Green, Deputy Minister; Patrick Borbey, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Branch; Karen L. Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2004-2005: Votes 1 and 5 under HEALTH referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 24, 2004.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 under HEALTH.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 1:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
