MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 5

Thursday, November 28, 2002

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Odina Desrochers, John Finlay, Mac Harb, Philip Mayfield, Val Meredith, Alex Shepherd and John Williams.

Acting Member present: Roy Cullen for Shawn Murphy.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O’Neal and Jean Dupuis, Analysts.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee commenced consideration of a draft Report on Chapter 13 - Other Audit Observations (Parc Downsview Park Inc.) of the December 2001 Report of the Auditor General of Canada. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Meetings Nos 46, 47, 50 and 58 of the First Session of the 37th Parliament)

It was agreed, - That the Committee adopt the Report as the THIRD REPORT of the Committee.

It was agreed, - That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government provide a comprehensive response to this Report.

It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Report as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, - That the Chair Table the THIRD REPORT to the House.

It was agreed, - That a Press Release be issued.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee commenced consideration of a draft Report on Chapter 1 (Financial Information Strategy: Infrastructure Readiness) of the December 2001 Report of the Auditor General of Canada; and Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), consideration of Chapter 7 (Strategies to Implement Modern Comptrollership) of the April 2002 Report of the Auditor General of Canada. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Meeting No. 60 of the First Session of the 37th Parliament)

It was agreed, - That the Committee adopt the Report as the FOURTH REPORT of the Committee.

It was agreed, - That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government provide a comprehensive response to this Report.

It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Report as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, - That the Chair Table the FOURTH REPORT to the House.

It was agreed, - That a Press Release be issued.

It was agreed, - That the Committee adopt the Report as the FIFTH REPORT of the Committee.

It was agreed, - That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government provide a comprehensive response to this Report.

It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Report as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, - That the Chair Table the FIFTH REPORT to the House.

It was agreed, - That a Press Release be issued.
