The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 705 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Andy Scott, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Garry Breitkreuz, Marlene Jennings, Derek Lee, Paul Harold Macklin, John Maloney, Richard Marceau, Inky Mark, John McKay, Lorne Nystrom, Pat O'Brien, Andy Scott, Kevin Sorenson and Vic Toews.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Museums Associations: John G. McAvity, Executive Director. Canadian Museums Association: Marcel Brisebois, Director, Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal. Writers' Union of Canada: Marian Hebb, Legal Counsel, Creators Copyright Coalition; Deborah Windsor, Executive Director. British Columbia Civil Liberties Association: Kirk Tousaw, Policy Director. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, April 1, 2003, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-20, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (protection of children and other vulnerable persons) and the Canada Evidence Act.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:44 a.m., John McKay took the Chair.

 

At 10:26 a.m., Andy Scott took the Chair.

 

At 11:04 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
