Tuesday, April 29, 2003

The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Walt Lastewka, Serge Marcil, Brian Masse, Dan McTeague, Hon.  Gilbert Normand, James Rajotte and Brent St. Denis.

Acting Members presents: Bob Mills for Cheryl Gallant and Bernard Bigras for Paul Crête.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya and Dan Shaw, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Natural Resources: Howard Brown, Assistant Deputy Minister, Large Industrial Emitters Group; David Oulton, Head, Climate Change Secretariat; Neil MacLeod, Director General, Office of Energy Efficiency.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the Potential Economic Impact on Canadian Industry of Implementing the Kyoto Protocol.

Howard Brown made an opening statement and, with David Oulton and Neil MacLeod, answered questions.

At 5:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
