The Standing Committee on Finance met at 1:05 p.m. this day, in the Harbourside Ballroom 1, Renaissance Vancouver Hotel, Vancouver, British Columbia, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Nick Discepola, Sophia Leung and Monte Solberg.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal ; Blayne Haggart, Analyst.

Witnesses: Translink: Patricia Jacobsen, Chief Executive Officer. Houston Friendship Centre Society: Penny Perlotto, Executive Director; Paul Lacerte, Executive Director, BC Aboriginal Association of Friendship Centres. Canadian Nurses Association: Rob Calnan, President. Coalition for Active Living: Rick Bell, Chair. Women Warriors of Sahtu: Cece McCauley, Honorary Chief ; Barbara Brown, Director - Community Development Associates. National Anti-Poverty Organization: Robert Arnold, President; Jacquie Ackerly, Secretary Treasurer. Association of Yukon Communities: Glen Everitt, President, Mayor of Dawson and Chair of the Northern Forum of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. Focus on the Family Canada : Derek Rogusky, Vice-President, Family policy. Grassroots Women: Rachel Rosen, Coordinator. Pursuant to Standing Order 83(1), the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations.

Panel I: Patricia Jacobson, Penny Perlotto, Paul Lacerte, Rob Calnan, Rick Bell and Barbara Brown made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 2:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Panel II: Jacquie Ackerly, Robert Arnold, Glen Everitt, Derek Rogusky Rachel Rosen, Jack Styan and Ted Kuntz made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 3:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
