The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in a televised session at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Scott Brison, Brian Fitzpatrick, Cheryl Gallant, Walt Lastewka, Serge Marcil, James Rajotte, Andy Savoy, Brent St. Denis and Paddy Torsney.
Acting Members present: Murray Calder for Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Lalita Acharya and James McQueen, Research Officers.

The Hon. Andy Mitchell, Secretary of State (Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario);
The Hon. Gerry Byrne, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency).

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated February 28, 2002, the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003, Votes 1, 5, 20 and 25 under INDUSTRY (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, May 7, 2002, Meeting No. 80).
The Hon. Andy Mitchell made an opening statement and, with Louise Paquette, answered questions.
The Hon. Gerry Byrne made an opening statement and, with Dennis Wallace, Paul LeBlanc and Peter Estey, answered questions.
At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
