The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Claude Drouin, Jocelyne Girard-Bujold, Dan McTeague, Paddy Torsney and Susan Whelan.

Other Member present: Peter Adams.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw and Lalita Acharya, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada: Robert J. Giroux, President and Chief Executive Officer; Paul Davenport, President, University of Western Ontario; Bonnie Patterson, President, Trent University; David Barnard, President, University of Regina; Tom Traves, President, Dalhousie University.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its s

.0tudy on the Three Federal Granting Agencies, Peer Review Funding, and the Canada Research Chairs Program (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, October 16, 2001, Meeting No. 39).

Robert J. Giroux, Tom Traves, Paul Davenport, Bonnie Patterson and David Barnard each made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 10:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
